Did you turn it on and off again?

You might hate Windows Updates, but probably not as much as German basketball team Paderborn Baskets.

The second-tier German professional basketball team were relegated to the third string of the German leagues because of a pesky Windows Update.

The laptop that powered the scoreboard was connected an hour and a half before tip-off but crashed just as the two sides were warming up.

It require system updates and took 17 minutes to reboot. This caused the game to start slightly later than scheduled and as a result the home team were penalised.

The laptop was back in perfect running order and the match commenced about 25 minutes after it’s original start time.

Even though Paderborn won the game 69-62, Chemnitz formally protested the delayed start. As a result, Paderborn were deducted a point in the standings, which sealed their fate and saw them relegated to the “ProB” league of German pro basketball.

There you have it folks, definitive proof that Windows Updates can ruin lives.
