Further proof that Prince was, and remains, one of the coolest people alive
That Prince is a big sports nut is not news. The Minnesota native is a big Vikings fan and his love of purple is often rumoured to be linked to the fact his beloved NFL team plays in that colour. The wee fella is often pictured at games there and he even wrote a song for them back in 2010 called 'Purple and Gold'. Maybe he is a Wexford fan too. Anyway, what wasn't as well known was that Prince was a fairly talented player too, of football and basketball. Now, a picture has emerged of Prince when he togged out for his school basketball team and he looks very slick to us, though in fairness it is a team blessed with some truly spectacular haircuts.
The Deadspin report goes on to post a cutting from the Minneapolis Star and Tribune where his former coach describe the singer as an 'excellent ball handler, a good shooter and very short (5'2")'.
