Pat Kenny is widely regarded as one of Ireland's best broadcasters and, on radio especially, he is incredibly smooth.
Analytical, thorough, and dogged, he rarely makes a mistake on air.
However, he appeared to be totally caught off guard this morning when discussing the revelations surrounding a possible drugs ban for Maria Sharapova with The Telegraph journalist Ben Rumsby.
The four-time Grand Slam winner admitted last night that she had failed a drug test at the Australian Open after Meldonium was put on the WADA banned list at the start of the year.
Kenny was speaking about the scandal this morning on his Newstalk show, and towards the end of the discussion, opened up the possibility of what she may do if she does face a ban from the sport at the age of 28.
Kenny suggested she could use her time away from the court to perhaps start a family, as she will be beyond 30 by the time any ban may end.
"Well recover from all your injuries, two years rest, have a baby, or even two, and come out the back end of it, who knows. That's a possibility. "And if that wasn't bad enough, he then made this comment after the ad break. https://twitter.com/KCsixtyseven/status/707156505590628352?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw And in case you didn't know, it's International Women's day too. https://twitter.com/clairefrilly/status/707156352104308736 https://twitter.com/puddingnbiscuit/status/707209183289024516 You can listen back to the first segment of the show below.
