Nick Kyrgios blasts Irish umpire in first-round match at Fever-Tree

Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios went off at Irish official Fergus Murphy during his first-round win over Roberto Carballés Baena at the Fever-Tree Championships.

Kyrgios exploded on Murphy after missing a set point against Baena in which he claimed the Spaniard had double-faulted.

The enigmatic Kyrgios has an extensive history of clashing with officials and he gave Murphy both barrels for what he felt should have been a fault.

“Bro you are taking the f****** p*** mate? The ball was this far out, no joke. No joke. What are you doing? It’s so far long. What are you doing?,” Kyrgios said.

“Like, what are you actually doing up there? It was this far out. Bro, it’s taking the p***. I refuse to play.

“It couldn’t have been further out. What are you doing? Jesus. Was that not out, the second serve?  It’s a joke, man. It’s a serious joke. Like, your hat looks ridiculous, also. It’s not even sunny.”

Kyrgios will now play Canadian Felix Auger Aliassime on court 1 today after a 7-6, 6-3 win over Baena.
