This is why the SportsJOE logo has a pink lollipop in the middle of it today

We’ve teamed up with the Oesophageal Cancer Fund (OCF) today to support their Lollipop Month fundraiser.

SportsJOE’s logo looks a bit different today, and that’s because we’re supporting the Oesophageal Cancer Fund’s (OCF) Lollipop Month fundraiser.

Across our website today, we’re going to be taking part in Lollipop Month, by highlighting the realities of oesophageal cancer and the amazing work the OCF does.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Lollipop Day, the OCF’s yearly fundraiser, but the event can’t take place on the streets this year like it usually does, due to Covid-19 restrictions.

That’s why, this year, Lollipop Day has become Lollipop Month, and the OCF need to raise €400k this April to continue their life-saving research and awareness efforts.

The OCF are asking SportsJOE readers to ‘Shake your Lolly’ and help raise money for Lollipop Month this April, by donating as little or as much as you can here.

Oesophageal Cancer is an aggressive and dangerous disease and, if not caught early, can have serious effects on patients.

There are over 450 new diagnoses of oesophageal cancer every year in Ireland, placing us among some of the highest rates in Europe, and this difficult cancer can have serious effects if not caught early.

Ground-breaking research funded by organisations such as the OCF has made a huge difference to oesophageal cancer survival rates, and it’s made possible through fundraisers such as Lollipop month.

For more info on the OCF or to donate, visit their website.

Raise money, raise awareness – better still, do both.

Shake your lolly for Lollipop Month. Get involved or donate for cancer research at ocf.ie.
