Irish siblings forced to settle for bronze medals at European Games

They come home with medals but not quite the colour they were dreaming of.
Donegal siblings Sam and Chloe Magee were beaten in straight sets in their European Games semi-final encounter in Baku. The mixed doubles duo were already guaranteed a bronze medal after beating Polish pair Aneta Wojtkow and Pawel Pietryja on Friday. Hoping to reach a gold medal match, on Sunday, the Irish team were defeated by France’s Gaetan Mittelheisser and Audrey Fontaine. The were in trouble early in the first set, which they lost 21-12. They battled bravely in the second and saved two match points before eventually losing it 23-21.
