Hot on the heels of the news we will be having an All Star team, the Irish side are also set for an exciting summer trip

Only last week it was announced that for the first time Irish basketball would select an All Star team from players in the National League. Now, the competition for places on the team will be even higher with news that the team will travel to China to take part in a four-team tournament in July.

The four team round-robin tournament will take place from July 10-20 in Kunshan, Jaingsu Province near Shanghai. While Ireland had a Premier League selection play, and beat, their English counterparts in 2013 and last year, this is a big step forward for the international game here.

UCD Marian captain Conor Meany said: “It’s great to have that an added incentive for players to push on with such an amazing reward for the 2015 All-Stars. It’s also fantastic to see another step towards Men’s International basketball for players to aspire to.”

Men’s Premier League, Women’s Premier League, Men’s First Division and Women’s First Division will all have All-Star teams selected at the end of the season.

Roll on July…
