This girl matched with an Olympic gold medalist on Tinder and pretty much ignored his messages

As Tinder matches go, a gold medal-winning Olympic swimmer in the making surely ranks pretty highly.

But for whatever reason, Joseph Schooling just wasn’t doing it for @sabwow when he matched her on the dating app just a few months before Rio.

This week 21-year-old Schooling made history for his native Singapore by beating hero Michael Phelps in the 100m butterfly race, which means a gold medal will be going back to the island city-state for the first time ever.

But for all his talent in the pool, Schooling’s Tinder hit rate seems to be far from flawless. She obviously deemed him worthy of a right swipe, but their proceeding conversation barely got off the ground.

The whole affair has been decidedly bittersweet for Sab. One the one hand, she’s matched one of the biggest success stories of the Olympic games – her ‘greatest accomplishment’.

On the other, well, she gave him the cold shoulder, which is weird considering that in her message to the athlete – her only message to him – she used that hearts-for-eyes emoji which would lead most men to think they’re onto a winner. Not so, and doesn’t Sab regret it now.

Could have been the greatest love story of a generation.
