Dublin gym-goers experience their own nightmare because of storm

Gainz-train members will be inconsollable

Niall McIntyre

Hard to take.

FLYEfit, one of the most popular gym chains in the country, sent out an email to all of their customers on Monday morning to let them know that all of their gyms will be closed for the day from 9:00 onward as a result of Hurricane Ophelia.

This was the statement released to customers.

“All FLYEfit gyms will be closed as of 09:00 today due to the red weather warning alert. The safety of our members and staff is our primary concern.

All gyms will reopen on Tuesday 17/10/17. Please keep on eye on our social media channels for any further updates throughout the day.

Stay safe.

Warm regards,

The FLYEfit team,”

Sustained winds of 85 miles per hour and two to three inches of rainfall have been predicted for parts of Ireland as a result of the storm.

Opheila is expected to hit southern parts of the country early in the morning before gradually making its way northwards throughout the day.

So for those hoping to make some Monday gains in the gym, put the gym gear back or get working out at home.

Ben Dunne gyms are also closed.

All of the universities are also closed for the day, which means DCU and UCD students won’t have access to their gyms either.
