Morris wins again in 6-2 victory over Gilbert

Kevin McGillicuddy

Kilkenny man ripping up the baize at UK Championship. Not literally mind.

Davy Morris take a bow.

Not content with knocking Mark Selby out of the UK championship on Saturday he’s now followed it up with a fairly comprehensive 6-2 win over David Gilbert.

The Noresider led 4-0 before Gilbert clawed it back to 5-2.

The final frame was a tense one as Morris led by 52 to 23 with 27 left on the table but a mistake from Gilbert in a snooker left the Kilkenny man with a simple green to put the match beyond his opponent.

He’ s now into the last 16 where he will face either Mark Williams or Stephen Maguire who play tomorrow.
