There was double glory for Cork as UCC Demons and Team Montenotte Hotel claimed National Cup titles in the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght last night.
Hot favourites to win a record seventh title, and sixth since 2003, Demons broke their game against UCD Marian open in the second quarter, opening up a 15-point half-time lead.
That advantage grew to 18 at the end of the third and UCC ran out comfortable 91-65 winners as Lehmon Colbert's 25 points earned him the game's MVP award.
The women's final was equally one-sided, with Team Montenotte crushing Dublin side Killester 62-36. MVP Grainne Dwyer led the way for the Glanmire outfit with 21 points as they won their record-equalling fifth National Cup.
There was another personal honour for Dwyer, who was also presented with the Sportswoman of the Year award by our colleagues at Her.ie.
