AB de Villiers smashed his way into the record books this morning with an incredible 149 runs off juts 44 balls to set a new record for the fastest century in one-day cricket history.

The South African batsman torched the West Indies to reach his hundred off just 31 deliveries, helping the Proteas set a incredibly daunting target of 440 off their 50 overs.

De Villiers delivered an exhibition in hitting, hammering 16 sixes and nine fours during his lightning innings, following up tons from Hashim Amla (153 not out) and Rilee Roussouw (128).
