“I could show him a thing or two.”
Becky Lynch has a connection with Straight Blast Gym – home of Conor McGregor – but she has never met ‘The Notorious’ in person. Not yet anyway.
McGregor is not the only one loving Lynch’s rapid rise in the WWE – an overnight success after 16 years – and the pro wrestler is grateful for his support and encouragement.

Lynch, the WWE Smackdown women’s champion, is currently embroiled in a feud with Charlotte Flair and is set to feature in the company’s first ever women’s ‘Tables, Ladders and Chairs’ pay-per-view this Sunday. However, she has her eyes firmly on starring in the main event at next year’s Wrestlemania 35.
The Irish wrestler was a guest on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show, on Monday, and she spoke openly about what headling Wrestlemania would mean to her. She declared:
“That’s my goal. That’s all I can think about. That’s all I want. That’s what… I’m living it right now. It’s what I wake up thinking about. It’s what I go to bed thinking about. If I had a vision board, that would be on my vision board.
“But I think that the possibility is, I think it’s right there, right? And for no other reason than it is the fight that most people care to see.
“So, it doesn’t matter what the gender is, or if it’s for an evolution or whatever. People care about this fight. It’s the one that people will care about the most. So it should be the main event.”
That main event would be against former UFC champion Ronda Rousey, who is the current women’s RAW champion. The pair have already had some exchanges but Lynch feels she can take ‘Ronnie’ to places she doesn’t want to go, at Wrestlemania.
Headlining such an event would shoot Lynch’s star even higher but Helwani is convinced that if she were to headline a big WWE event at Croke Park, it would stand a decent shout of selling out. The 31-year-old had a better idea:
“That would be phenomenal, and I could bring him along.
“I could show him a thing or two. Myself & Conor vs. Ronnie & Kurt Angle or something… that would be pretty freakin’ cool and I think the Irish people would enjoy it… It could happen.”
Lynch is coming back to Ireland for Christmas and mentioned that she would love to drop by SBG to work on a new move. John Kavanagh, McGregor’s coach, is game.
