Lady Gaga will perform Satanic ritual during Super Bowl halftime show, according to conspiracy theorist

If you weren't planning to stay up and watch the Super Bowl tonight, perhaps the promise of Satanism will convince you to.

Sunday nights are usually pretty chilled out affairs. Watch a bit of telly, have a cup of tea, go to bed and pretend you don't have to go back to work in the morning - perfect.

It's a different matter for fans of American Football, who will be staying up tonight to watch the Super Bowl LI, where the New England Patriots will face off against the Atlanta Falcons.

Lady Gaga will be performing the legendary half time show, and if Gaga is known for anything, it's for being very tame and reserved, so you can't really expect too much from her performance tonight.

Hang on a minute, what's this?

Well that's certainly different.

Obviously this is a load of old cobblers - you can tell because it's from Infowars, the website of right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. Some of Jones' greatest hits include his belief that the government is creating gay people to keep the population down and that Taylor Swift "loves genetically-modified bacteria poop".

Jones now has his sights set on tonight's Super Bowl, specifically Lady Gaga's halftime show, where he believes she will warp the minds of America through Satanism. Jones talked through his theory in a rambling and incoherent video posted to Facebook.

"The organisers of the Super Bowl are deciding to defile America and break our will by having us bow down to [her]," Jones claims in the video.

"She’s reportedly going to be on top of the Super Bowl - they're saying she may cancel doing this - on top of the stadium, ruling over everyone with drones everywhere, surveilling them in a big swarm, to condition them that 'I am the goddess of Satan', ruling over you with the rise of the robots in a ritual of lesser magic."

Guess there only one way to find out: tune into the Super Bowl tonight and find out. Just make sure you wear your tinfoil hat, just in case.
