Kerry have issued a positive update on James O’Donoghue’s shoulder injury

He may be fit for August 23rd

James O'Donoghue's season looked like it may have been over after he fell awkwardly while through on goal in Sunday's All-Ireland quarter-final against Kildare. The Legion clubman appeared to hurt his shoulder or elbow in the fall, and according to TV pictures it looked like the forward had his shoulder 'popped' back into place on the pitch. https://twitter.com/SportsJOEdotie/status/627834160967733248 Kerry boss Eamonn Fitzmaurice was hopeful it wasn't too serious while many observers felt the corner-forward's season could well be over after the injury to the same shoulder he had an operation on last November. But today Kerry GAA issued an injury update and it seems the Kingdom ace may well be back this season, if not for a semi-final then certainly for an All-Ireland final if the Sam Maguire holders are to get to a September showpiece.

James O’Donoghue injured his shoulder when he fell following a tackle by the goalkeeper in yesterday’s All Ireland Football Quarter final tie with Kildare. The Kerry Medical Team immediately realigned the shoulder and an X-Ray afterwards showed that there was no serious injury sustained. He will have a routine MRI Scan and will rest for a few days before beginning rehab and a graduated return to action.

Whether that graduated return to action will allow him play against Tyrone or Monaghan remains to be seen, but at least the footballer has enough to keep his mind off the injury at home in Kerry today https://twitter.com/Jamesod7/status/628135781861867520
