Jason Sherlock accepts eight-week ban for shouldering McHugh

Dublin selector Jason Sherlock has accepted an eight-week ban for shouldering Galway forward Barry McHugh in the Dubs draw with the Tribesmen earlier this month.
Video footage showed Sherlock shoulder McHugh in the back after the Mountbellew-Moylough player scuffled with Dublin forward Ciaran Kilkenny on the sideline.
Dublin manager Jim Gavin confirmed the news after Dublin's loss to Monaghan on Sunday and said that they were happy to accept the proposed suspension with Paul Clarke filling in for Sherlock on line duties.
“There was a proposed suspension so we’ve accepted that and that’s why Paul was there," said Gavin after the game.
“The rule is clear so it is what it is.”
Sherlock was cited by the Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) for a Category IIa offence — ‘Any type of physical interference with an Opposing Player or Team Official’.
He should return for Dublin's Leinster SFC opener against Wicklow or Offaly in the last weekend of May.
