Galway need to up their game if they want to avoid Dublin next week

It was debated for the last two weeks, should Galway rest players for their final super 8 game, or should they go out to win and avoid a semi-final match up with All-Ireland champions Dublin.

They opted not too make too many changes to the side that overcame Kildare in Newbridge. Indeed, star players Damien Comer and Shane Walsh took to the field showing Galwasy clear intent on winning today's game. Monaghan knew they had to win in order to qualify for their first semi-final in 30 years, and they look like a team hell-bent on doing so. Despite it being a cagey affair, with both defences on top, Monaghan have looked much the better side. Six of their seven scores have come from play, whilst only one Galway forward has scored from play. Somebody needs to let the Galway players know that Kildare are currently leading Kerry by four points, and if things stay this way then Galway will have to play Dublin next week for a place in this years decider. In what was a disappointing first half Monaghan currently lead by two points.
