The ACL epidemic in the GAA has claimed another victim.
Dublin forward Eoghan O'Gara's season is over, after the county board confirmed the star ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament at the weekend.
O'Gara suffered the injury while playing for his club Templeogue Synge Street on Sunday.
The Dublin County Board released a statement last night, with manager Jim Gavin confirming the forward's season is now over.
"On a personal level this is extremely disappointing for Eoghan. His start to the 2015 season had been very positive with some excellent performances in the O’Byrne Cup and National Football League", he said.
"Protocols have been activated to ensure that Eoghan will receive the best of medical care and the Dublin Football medical and coaching staff will actively assist in his recovery over the weeks and months ahead. We wish Eoghan a speedy recovery, and we look forward to seeing him back to full health in the near future."
This tweet from The Irish Examiner's John Fogarty shows just how big a problem cruciate injuries have become.
