Many Aston Villa fans won’t agree with Tim Sherwood’s surprising Steven Gerrard claim

Former Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood has made a surprising Steven Gerrard claim following his old team's defeat to Chelsea at the weekend. Gerrard, who is currently in charge of Villa, has been under increasing pressure, with rumours already circulating that Mauricio Pochettino is set to replace the Liverpool legend. After losing 2-0 to Chelsea at the weekend, the claret and blue army are currently sitting in 16th place, hovering dangerously above the relegation places. Most of the noise around Villa Park is that the ex-England captain is not the man for the job, and is on borrowed time, but Sherwood believes otherwise.  “I think he’s the correct man for the job, I really do, and I think it’s too early to talk about him losing his job,” Sherwood told TalkSPORT. “It’s difficult, it’s a difficult environment, it can be the best environment at Villa Park. The crowd, they get with you, and they call themselves the 12th man up there and they can be. “But you need some brave players when it’s not going your way, to be brave enough to go and get that ball in dangerous areas when the game is not on your side.
