No matter how many goals he scores, world continues to be against Ronaldo

Goals are not masking the striker's seething sense of injustice.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 300th Real Madrid goal, last night, as Los Blancos defeated Rayo Vallecano 2-0 to keep the La Liga title race alive. The goal tally is remarkable, given the fact that Ronaldo has only been in Madrid since August 2009. He is now just eight goals behind Real legend Alfredo Di Stefano and 23 off all-time top scorer Raul. The latest CR7 landmark was lost amid controversy, however. Ronaldo was denied a clear penalty, and booked for his trouble, after 30 minutes. Real boss Carlo Ancelotti suggested, post match, that the decision to caution his player for a dive was "incredible". James Rodriguez opened the scoring before, on 68 minutes, Ronaldo headed home to make it 2-0. What followed, to the untrained eye, was a flick of the wrist and a scream of celebration. However, Spanish TV had a spare 20 minutes, after the game, and broke down the celebration. We are told, now, that the Portugal captain exclaimed "¡Roba esto, caralho!", which basically means 'Rob this you [choose expletive here]!' There was also supposed to be some genital-touching from Ronaldo - another apparent gesture of disgust. If league officials agree with the media's interpretation of events, the World Player of the Year could be facing more than a one-game ban, for picking up too many bookings.
