Martin O’Neill cuts Ireland squad to 28 and it is wonderful news for Dundalk

Martin O'Neill has cut the Republic of Ireland squad ahead of the trip to Austria.

The Irish have one game this international break and that just so happens to be one of the most important fixtures in their hunt for World Cup qualification. Vienna is the venue, Austria is the opposition and three points is the difference between the teams at this early stage in the process. And Ireland have named their final 23-man squad that will make the trip to the continent for Saturday evening's clash. It came after a little teaser of course but people do not like teasers. Cyrus Christie, Stephen Ward, Stephen Quinn and James McCarthy have all been ruled out with injury whilst Barnsely's Conor Hourinhane was yet again let go after the provisional squad along with goalkeeping duo Ian Lawlor and Danny Rogers.
