The fan who sadly died at a Champions League game on Wednesday evening (6 November) has been named as a former international manager.
The incident happened at Tuesday's match between Bayern Munich and Benfica in Munich, following a medical emergency in the crowd.
The individual required medical assistance just three minutes into the match at the Allianz Arena which took place on Wednesday evening.
Now it has been confirmed that the fan was in fact former Luxembourg women's national team coach Romain Jean.
Despite being initially resuscitated by first-aiders, he tragically passed away while being transported to hospital.
The incident happened in the southeast section of the stadium.
Speaking to Luxembourg-based news outlet L'essentiel, Cristina Correia who played under Jean said: "Romain did a lot for women's football in Luxemburg.
"He helped to structure it and put it on the right path."
"He was a demanding coach on the physical aspect and a happy person," she added.
Bayern Munich released a statement expressing their grief: "FC Bayern is in mourning side by side with the fan's relatives."
Bayern boss, Vincent Kompany, said after the match: "We didn't celebrate much after the game."
Meanwhile the club's sporting director, Max Eberl said: "There are definitely more important things in life than football."
Jean led Luxembourg's women's team from 2006 to 2012 in a pioneering position in the country.
In a show of respect, Bayern Munich's ultras opted to remain silence throughout the match while flags were removed from the stands.
The match kicked off 15 minutes late, but this was due to a transport issue.
