Nothing like a bit of Bruce Springsteen to get the weightlifting juices going
Ulster forward Nick Williams is currently on the comeback trail from a hamstring injury sustained in December against Scarlets. The New Zealander is hoping to return for the province's final two Champions Cup games and, if his gym work is anything to go by, he should achieve that goal.
Williams produced a bench pull of 145kg (just under 23-stone) at the Kingspan Ravenhill gym this week. The challenge involves lying face down and lifting a metallic motherload towards one's chest until it rings a bell underneath the bench. Williams can be heard hollering 'Yes! I heard it' as Springsteen's Hungry Heart belts out in the background.
Ulster strength and conditioning coach Kevin Geary was quick to alert the man who's record he had matched - Stephen Ferris. Ferris, who retired from rugby last June, was not taking the bait, however:
