Even Jose Mourinho wouldn’t condone this type of treatment of referees.
Some fans of the Australian Rugby league side Canterbury Bulldogs were so outraged with a call by the ref in their loss to South Sydney Rabbitohs, they pelted the match officials with bottles as they left the pitch.
Gavin Morris and Gerard Sutton left the field under fire from missles, and official Darren Alchin was taken to hospital with a suspected broken collarbone, after being struck by a bottle.

The referee penalised a Bulldogs player for a tackle, allowing South Sydney to complete the decisive score and win the match 18-17.
The incident outraged fans, but it transpired that the ref had made the correct call.

The home side’s coach, Des Hasler offered an apology after the game. ‘I’ve been to see the referee official who was struck by a projectile. He is ok. That is not us. That is not what this club is about and not what sport in this country is about’.
‘Unfortunately the behaviour of a few can spoil it for everybody. On behalf of the players and officials and everyone involved with the club, our sincerest apologies and it won’t happen again’.
