Sonny Bill Williams’ latest good deed proves there is truly no end to his soundness

So much legendariness

Patrick McCarry

Sonny Bill Williams continues to be one of the nicest chaps on planet earth.

The All Blacks centre has a list of good deeds that spill to the floor at this stage.

When he is not giving jerseys away to sick fans, visiting Syrian refugees or giving away his World Cup winners’ medal to a pitch-invading scamp, SBW has his sights set on winning New Zealand a gold medal, at Rio 2016, in Rugby Sevens.

As part of his Olympic preparations, Williams is playing at this weekend’s Wellington Sevens and he has hooked up a worthy family with some tickets to watch him.

In honour of the late, great Jerry Collins, Williams asked for a family from Porirua [home to the All Blacks legend] to get in touch with him and share their stories.

Williams’ shout-out got lots of worthy entries but he eventually settled on inviting Winnie, a single mother of five, all the way to Wellington for the weekend. He threw in a couple pairs of snazzy boots while he was at it.

That’s not all. It never is with Williams.

On the way to Sevens training, he asked the bus driver to pull over and give a lift to a colourfully dressed rugby nut.
