Every so often Simon Zebo does something marvellous to remind everyone just how talented he is. The heel flick against Wales comes to mind. As does that outrageous pass against Zebre in November.
Fittingly, Zebo produced a moment of pure magic in his Thomond Park swansong. After eight years at the province, he bid farewell to its hallowed grounds on Saturday. His final outing at Thomond came in the PRO14 semi-final play-off against Edinburgh.
The first half was a relatively quiet one for the Cork man. However, he more than made up for it in the second half. The game was neck and neck at 7-6 when a stupidly high pass forced Zebo to make an immaculate recovery. He remained calm, turned around and picked up the loose ball. He proceeded to charge towards the line of defence, played a gorgeous kick through which he caught on the bounce.
In behind the defence, he delivered a sensational pass to Keith Earls on the wing. The Limerick man turned on the afterburners to run in for a beautiful Munster try.
