Should Ireland copy Australia’s unusual World Cup masterplan?

Well, should they?

Ben Kiely

The Wallabies have a rather unconventional game plan for the World Cup.

The Daily Telegraph is reporting that the Aussies’ master plan for the tournament is to two field entirely different starting XVs in their opening two pool games.

In an unprecedented selection tactic for Australia at World Cups, assistant coach Stephen Larkham said the Australian squad would be split right down the middle in order to share the workload of playing three Tests inside 11 days.

The Aussies will field one starting side, which will be the strongest of the two against Fiji on 23rd September, while another entirely different XV will play against Uruguay on 27th September.

So, should Ireland adopt the same tactic for their opening two games of the competition?
