The 21-year-old Carbery suffered an ankle injury during Ireland's win over the USA.
Ireland out-half Joey Carbery will miss the rest of his side's summer tour after suffering an ankle injury in the 55-19 win over the USA at the weekend.
The young Leinster player was forced off in the 50th minute of the clash and did not travel onwards to Tokyo with the rest of Joe Schmidt's Ireland panel.
The 21-year-old will be out of action for up to six weeks.
“Joey is not here,” explained Ireland assistant coach Richie Murphy. “The ankle will need four to six weeks to recover. Tiernan O’Halloran had cramp but should be okay.”
Even before suffering his injury, Carbery had endured something of a nightmare against the Eagles; he was twice charged down inside his own 22, errors which led to tries for the home side in New Jersey, while his kicking disappointed throughout the game despite a resounding victory for Ireland.
Paddy Jackson is now expected to start for Ireland against Japan on Saturday at the Ecopa Stadium in Fukuroi.

Another top performance! Our Ireland player ratings as Andy Farrell’s men put in a six-try performance to defeat Scotland. Tom O’Toole – 8.5 The Ulsterman’s switch to loosehead looks to be paying real dividends with another great showing in the scrum, the highlight of which was an early penalty that led to Jamie Osborne’s try.
