Brian O'Driscoll said after his retirement that his one regret is not being able to be a part of a Joe Schmidt World Cup squad. The main reason for that view is probably that despite taking part in four tournaments, O'Driscoll was never able to advance further than the quarter-finals.
Wales Online have done a ranking of the 100 most influential players at rugby's marquee tournament, and BOD just about sneaks in at number 100, behind legends like Canadian back row Al Charron.
O'Driscoll never led Ireland to the final four, but he did have some famous World Cup moments. This try - which, granted, was scored in a narrow loss against Australia - was one of the most scintillating finishes ever seen at a World Cup.

Former Ireland captain Keith Wood actually finished 20 places higher on the list at 80.
Does Brian O'Driscoll deserve to be higher up on the list? Or did his greatest performances unfortunately fall outside the World Cup window?
