Munster and Ireland fans will be delighted by news that CJ Stander has signed on for another two years with the province.
The powerful back row forward will be playing his rugby at Thomond Park until at least the summer of 2018 having scored 22 tries in his 69 appearances in the three years since his arrival from the Blue Bulls three years ago and been named Munster's player of the year last season.
Having now met the three-year residency requirement, the South African-born Stander is expected to make his Ireland debut in this season's Six Nations.
He said: "I am delighted to be committing my future to Munster Rugby. This is very much home for me and it is a huge honour to represent the red jersey every week."
It's the first of several major contract dominoes to fall in Munster, with Conor Murray and Simon Zebo - the latter widely linked with clubs in France - both out of contract next summer.
