What a shame it would be were this to be the end of the centre’s Lions tour.
While he has only shone in attacking glimpses, Robbie Henshaw’s defence has been excellent on the British & Irish Lions tour to New Zealand.
It is no surprise, then, that the Ireland centre was injured making an important tackle in defence against the Hurricanes.
The 24-year-old had already made one big tackle on the left flank when he tracked back to take down ‘Canes flanker Vaea Fifita. The tackle clearly hurt Henshaw but he got back up to take his place in the defensive line. He even made another tackle.
Credit: Sky SportsHis double defensive impact was part of a rush defence play from the Lions that led to a turnover and a superb try from Tommy Setmour.
As Dan Biggar lined up the conversion, Henshaw briefly received treatment on the pitch before the decision was made to remove him from the fray. It could well be a stinger injury but the way Henshaw’s left arm was hanging by his side, it could be worse. A post-match update will tell us more.
Judging by the reactions of the Lions medical staff and the player himself, the shoulder injury could well mean his tour his over with two Test matches still left on the calendar.
Henshaw coming off with a nasty-looking shoulder injury here. Halfpenny into the fray. North into the centres
