Move over F1! A group of students in a Swiss university have built an electric car that can go 0-100km/h in 1.785 secs.

Students from ETH Zürich and Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts have achieved an amazing feat. They have designed and built an electric car that can accelerate faster than any Formula One car. The electric-powered contraption can reach 100 km/h in 1.785 secs.

Unfortunately, a video of the car’s record-breaking voyage has yet to surface online but to give some context, here is footage of the record they have supposedly broken. It’s important to remember that these are electric cars. The engine noise is a little underwhelming considering the speed they reach.

The AMZ Formula Student team are currently waiting on official confirmation fro the Guinness World Book of Records.
