Formula 1 star Daniel Ricciardo is expected to know where he stands on his future with Red Bull very shortly, according to recent reports.

Daniel, who drove for Red Bull from 2014 to 2018, achieved seven race victories during his time alongside former world champion Sebastian Vettel and three-time title-winner Max Verstappen.

In 2019, he made a surprising move to Renault, followed by a challenging stint at McLaren.

After a brief hiatus from the grid in 2023, Ricciardo joined AlphaTauri, hoping to pave his way back to Red Bull.

Despite his efforts, his teammate Yuki Tsunoda has consistently outperformed him this season so far. This has sparked rumours that Ricciardo might not have a seat next year.

Sergio Perez, who has raced alongside Verstappen at Red Bull since 2021, is out of contract at the end of this season.

Speculation about Perez’s replacement has been rife, with Ricciardo being coined as a potential candidate.

However, Motorsport-Total.com has claimed that Perez is due to sign a new deal with Red Bull in the coming days, effectively ruling out Ricciardo’s return to the team.

The report revealed: “Sergio Perez is about to extend his contract with Red Bull Racing.

“Helmut Marko recently indicated that they would like to have a clear picture ‘by Barcelona’ of whether the Mexican can stay or not. And as of today, everything indicates that this could be sealed in the next few days or weeks.”

Ricciardo’s future in Formula 1 remains uncertain, but the impending contract extension for Perez suggests that a return to Red Bull is unlikely for the Australian driver.
