McLaren have delayed their 2015 driver line-up announcement until December after initially claiming they would have their decision confirmed by today.
The Woking-based outfit said yesterday that they would put the announcement off so as to avoid distracting its team for the season's final race in Abu Dhabi.
A statement from McLaren said: “In order to avoid distracting the race team from its primary objective we have decided to defer our final deliberations relating to our 2015 driver line-up until a date no earlier than Monday 1 December.
“Selecting the optimal driver line-up for a Formula One team is clearly an important process and it is therefore one that requires precise and prolonged analysis."
Double world champion Fernando Alonso is expected to be signed by McLaren which leaves an anxious few weeks for Jenson Button as it will be him or Denmark's Kevin Magnussen who will be forced to make way for the Spaniard.
