Pic: The fight might be over, but Jon Jones is still trolling Daniel Cormier

The hype, and jousting over social media, begins again

On Saturday night the much anticipated fight between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier finally went down at UFC 182 and the champ won by unanimous decision. Considering that the bout resulted in Cormier's first loss and that there are so few prospects at 205lbs, (likely only Alexander Gustafsson and Anthony Johnson could be talked about in the contention picture) talk has already turned to a possible rematch, which we are sure will be served up sometime in 2015. The build up to Saturday's fight was dominated by what seemed to be genuine vitriol between the fighters and it appears that the verbal jabs have already restarted. Jones posted a picture of himself taking Cormier down during the fight with a quote from the challenger when he spoke about Jones in the immediate aftermath of the Olympian's win over Dan Henderson.

CORMIER: "If I decide to take Jon Jones down 100 times, I'll take him down a 100 times"

It was a much subtler dig than we have seen between both so far, but based on this, the feud will be kept bubbling nicely until the almost inevitable rematch. Oh, and in case you are wondering, Cormier attempted eight take downs in the fight, succeeding just once.
