Georges St-Pierre responds to newly-crowned champion Tyron Woodley’s call-out

Hard luck, Wonderboy

If Georges St-Pierre wants a title shot for his UFC return, who the hell is going to stop him?

When Tyron Woodley knocked Robbie Lawler out in the first round of UFC 201’s main event, he showed little desire in taking on number-one contender Stephen Thompson for his first defence.

Instead, the undisputed champion saw dollar signs and proceeded to call out two of the biggest draws in the sport – Georges St-Pierre and Nick Diaz, both of whom are set to return to the Octagon this year.

Arguably the greatest fighter to ever grace an Octagon, St-Pierre got everyone very excited earlier this year when he finally announced that he was ready to come back having not fought since vacating his belt after beating Johny Hendricks in 2013.

Despite Dana White’s claims, it looks like the former welterweight champion is willing to take Woodley up on his offer.

When asked by MMA Fighting whether he would be interested in fighting Woodley, the Canadian superstar responded with one word, “Yes.”  Just to make sure, they asked if he actually wanted the fight, a question which received the exact same response.

This will come as a crushing blow to Wonderboy who looked like he solidified his position as number-one contender by defeating Rory MacDonald over a tense five round war in UFC Ottawa’s main event. However, if St-Pierre wants this fight, considering how big of a star he is, it’s unlikely that the promotion will refuse him the opportunity.
