A jockey couldn't believe what happened during one of the most controversial moments of the Punchestown Festival on Thursday.
During the marathon Cross Country race, Sean Flanagan was riding the Gavin Cromwell horse Stumptown and despite hopes of being a winner, it didn't go to plan as they soon found themselves chasing after a fall on the 20th fence
After making an less-than-impressive start, Stumptown was aiming to recover on a high, only for a loose horse to intrude on those plans.
With only five fences to go, the riderless Streets Of Doyen ran across the course before joining the pack and accidentally made contact with Stumptown, subsequently knocking Flanagan from the saddle.
Luckily both horses and Flanagan weren't injured but there will be added frustration as 28/1 shot Singing Banjo ended up crossing the line first.
After the race Flanagan posted on X: "Did not see that one coming."

Some people tried to make light of the situation, labelling the loose horse as "Neigh Mysterio" while others described the incident as "outrageous".
