Rory McIlroy perfectly sums up his abysmal recent US Open form with one brief sentence

McIlroy spots the silver lining

Ben Kiely

The Hollywood native may not be having the best time on the course at the moment, but at least he appreciates what he already has.

Another year, another poor performance in the US Open for Rory McIlroy.

He followed up his back-to-back 72s, with a 70 at the challenging Chambers Bay golf course, which brought his total to +4 this tournament. This left McIlroy firmly out of the running to win the trophy and brought his aggregate up a dismal 10 over par for his last two appearances at the tournament.

While walking off the 18th green after completing his final round, McIlroy turned to his caddie JP Fitzgerald and really put his poor form at the competition into perspective.

“Thank God I have got one of these.”

Thank god indeed, Rory. You’ll always have that wonderful 2011 triumph.
