So what on earth happens now?
It seems that Naomh Conail Glenties’ Donegal championship might not be over after all. Six days after St. Eunan’s celebrated winning the title in Ballybofey.
Glenties appealed their semi final defeat to Glenswilly on the grounds that the eventual beaten finalists should not have been allowed a sub for black carded Ciaran Bonner who was reportedly given a yellow earlier in the game.
However, after Donegal CCC’s decision not to grant them a replay was taken to Croke Park, it appears that Paddy Campbell’s side have been awarded a hearing with the Ulster Hearings Committee.
Just to make it more interesting: Letterkenny, the champions (at the minute anyway), are playing Roslea on Sunday in the provincial quarter final but, whatever the result from Glenties’ new appeal, St. Eunan’s look to be representing the county in Ulster regardless.
But we’re scratching our heads wondering what way this will be resolved. Do Glenties play Glenswilly again? Does Michael Murphy not go to Australia? Do Letterkeny play the winners even if it is Glenswilly who they already beat? Or would Glenties go straight into a refixed decider with Letterkenny? What if Glenties win the championship now and St. Eunan’s go on and win Ulster?
We need to sit down for a second.
