Exiled Clare hurler Davy O’Halloran will be playing football for the county this summer

O'Halloran left the hurling set-up last month

Another Clare hurler has switched codes for the summer.

After Nicky O’Connell apologised and rejoined the Clare hurling setup this week, his fellow exile Davy O’Halloran has committed to the county’s football side.

The Irish Examiner report this morning that O’Halloran has linked up with Colm Collins’ side, and is among four of Davy Fitzgerald’s former hurlers who are now exclusively playing football.

O’Halloran and O’Connell walked out on the panel last month, claiming they were “humiliated” by the management team, after being spotted on a night out.

O’Halloran claimed the pair were made train and tog out on their own, not allowed wear official county training gear, and were banned from speaking to other members of the squad during sessions.

While O’Connell returned to training this week after apologising to his teammates, O’Halloran has seemingly refused to follow suit, and has instead switched codes to the Clare footballers, who finished fifth in Division 3 of the National Football League.

Earlier this year, former dual players Podge and Sean Collins, as well as Cathal McInerney committed to football for the 2015 season.
