The New York Post didn’t hold back on the Frank Lampard saga

The Big Apple tabloid calls his signing a "fraud".

Ever bump into an old friend on the street, make elaborate plans for pints sometime in the future, with no intention of actually doing it?

If so, you may be able to empathise with Frank Lampard.

The former Chelsea midfielder joined Man City on what was believed at the time to be a six month loan from new club New York City, but after repeated denials that he would continue with the Premier League champions for the second half of the season, Lampard extended his six month contract on December 31.

It emerged in the following days that Lampard was never officially a New York player, and that the reported contract he signed was merely an agreement to join the club.

As usual the ever-understated New York Post have come out swinging…

However, Lampard has offered his explanation to the confusion on his facebook page, where he reiterates his desire to play in new York, as well as wishing everybody a Happy New Year, because he’s such a nice geezer, innit.
