The League of Hate results confirm that Manchester United are slightly more detested than Liverpool

The numbers don't lie

Have you ever wondered who the most hated team in the Premier League is?

There are a number of top contenders for the award in the annual League of Hate poll, conducted by the Manchester Evening News and its sister titles which includes the Daily Mirror.

The survey began earlier this month and was aimed towards the 2016/17 season, thus including promoted sides Burnley, Middlesbrough and Hull.

Unsurprisingly none of those teams made the top ten as that was reserved for the more divisive sides in the league.

Chelsea came out on top, with Manchester United hot on their heels as runners-up.

Liverpool got third spot while Manchester City’s fourth-place finish likely stems from their recent wealth.
