Steven Fletcher emphatically denies rumours linking him with joining Brendan Rodgers at Celtic

Supporters don't seem bothered

Another summer, another long-running Steven Fletcher to Celtic rumour.

It seems like the Scotland international is linked with a move to Parkhead every time the transfer window opens up and, frankly, it’s getting tiresome for all involved.

The striker’s loan deal at Marseille has just come to an end and it seems unlikely that Sunderland will want him back in their ranks next season.

And where uncertainty exists, the transfer rumour mill cranks into gear but Fletcher is adamant that the suggestions that he’s the subject of interest from new Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers are nothing but speculative.

“I don’t know, they obviously have a new manager (Brendan Rodgers) so that is up to him,” Fletcher told Sky Sports.

“But I haven’t had any contact with Celtic.

“I know everyone likes to think I have, even in recent times when I have been linked with them there has never been any solid connection with me and them.

“I am going to take myself away with my family and relax a little while before I start thinking about anything else.”

To be fair, it doesn’t seem like Celtic fans are exactly devastated with the forward’s denial.
