Roy Keane favourite in odds for next Republic of Ireland manager

Conan Doherty

Martin O’Neill hasn’t gone anywhere, he might not go anywhere, but why would that stop you?

The odds for the next permanent manager of the Republic of Ireland have the current national team assistant manager Roy Keane out in front in the race to replace O’Neill, whenever he does leave. If ever he does leave.

Ladbrokes slashed odds on Wednesday of the Derry man leaving his post as that possibility went as short as 3/4.

There’s no shortage of candidates in line though who could step in and take over the reins of the Aviva and Abbotstown… and Craven Cottage.

Sam Allardyce, who recently stepped away from interest in the Everton job because they didn’t seem too interested in him, is behind Keane to be the next boss of the Republic and he would come boasting the finest ever win ration of any England manager.

Next Ireland manager

Odds courtesy of Paddy Power.

Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill is in at 25/1 alongside legend Robbie Keane whilst Jim McGuinness, who is currently assistant with Beijing Sinobo Guoan, is at 33/1/

On down the list you have the usual hangers-on like Harry Redknapp, Martin Jol and Marty Morrisey.

No word of Eddie Howe though who’d be a terrific acquisition.
