Real Madrid’s 21 match winning streak by numbers

Real are tearing the record books apart with their recent run, so we've decided to break down the numbers

Real Madrid hardly broke sweat defeating Cruz Azul 4-0 in the semi-final of the World Club Championship, extending their staggering run of successive wins to 21 games.

We’ve taken a look back through their fixture list and broken down the numbers, putting their incredible form into perspective.

Read it now, because we imagine win number 22 will be arriving in the tournament’s final this Sunday.

21 – We’ll start with an easy one. 21 wins on the spin, although you were probably aware of that. And just to spell that out for you: WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.

79 – Goals scored in their winning spell. Real are averaging just over 3.7 goals a game. That’s just daft.

10 – Goals conceded in the last 21 games. RTE told us they were suspect at the back.

1 – On just a single occasion has the Real Madrid net been breached more than once in that game. Luckily though, Real scored eight times that day against Deportivo.

28 – The number of goals scored by Ronaldo in that time. I repeat, 28, in the last three months! That would have been enough to finish as top scorer in the Premier League 13 times. Even with eight of those coming from the penalty spot, it’s nice to have a player who you can guarantee to get at least a goal a game. Just give him that Ballon d’Or now.

16 – While Ronaldo has been the main supply, the monster goal haul has been a real team effort, with 16 different players scoring in 21 games.

13 – 13 times during their 21 match run, Real have scored at least four goals in a game. They even hit eight in one match against Deportivo back in September.

4 – You’d imagine there were a few close shaves throughout a run of 21 wins on the trot, and you’d be wrong. Only four of their games have been won by a solitary goal.

2 – Real have only suffered the stress of falling behind twice in their last 21 games, showing just how routine these last 21 wins have been.

And 1,890 – Real’s winning run when broken down to by minutes, although it’s probably been closer to 2,000 by the time injury time is factored in.
