Another young Irish talent is on course to make his debut for a top team.

After facing heavy criticism for recent performances, Brendan Rodgers will rest a number of key players for their upcoming Europa League clash against Bordeaux. Rodgers made the decision to keep his core players fit for the Premier League campaign.

As a result, a number of fringe players have been drafted into the squad for the match. Independent,ie reports that 19-year-old Dubliner Daniel Cleary is among the players drafted into the squad.

Should the former Crumlin United defender feature in the match, he will become the first Irish-born player to emerge through the ranks at the club to feature for Liverpool’s first team in nearly 11 years.

Dubliner Richie Partridge was the last Irish-born Academy product to wear the Liverpool jersey, having appeared for the Reds during the League Cup run of 2004/5 season.
