Chris Forrester was scouted by a Premier League club against Chelsea

They will have been impressed with his performance...

Chris Forrester was brilliant against Chelsea on Sunday afternoon, and the watching scouts will have been impressed.

The Peterborough United captain’s calm demeanour, intelligent passing and technical ability drew comparisons with Michael Carrick. Forrester’s team lost the FA Cup third round tie 4-1 to the Premier League leaders.

However, the 24-year-old stood-out and showed he is capable of playing on such a big stage.

Forrester’s perfectly weighted pass midway through the second-half may have even ended John Terry’s Chelsea career.

The Chelsea captain brought down Lee Angol with a clumsy challenge and received a red card, after Forrester had played the Peterborough striker through.

Forrester then played a key part in his team’s goal, lofting a deft pass over the top for the full-back to set-up Tom Nicholls to score.

The former St Patrick’s Athletic midfielder also levelled Cesc Fabregas with a heavy challenge.

It was an eventful day for the Peterborough captain and the scouts in attendance won’t have regretted their trip to Stamford Bridge to watch him in action.

According to football journalist Miguel Delaney, West Bromwich Albion sent a scout to watch Forrester play.

The Premier League club are well aware of the midfielder after he impressed against them last January in the fourth-round of the FA Cup.

West Brom won the replay, but Forrester’s performance earned praise from the BBC panel that covered the game.

Norwich City also reportedly sent a scout to watch him against Chelsea on Sunday and several Championship sides are rumoured to be interested.

According to the Reading Chronicle, Reading want to sign the player this month. Jaap Stam’s side will reportedly face competition from Brentford and Derby County for Forrester.

Peterborough are currently ninth in League One, two points away from the play-off spots, and won’t want to lose their captain midway through the season.

Forrester signed for Peterborough from St Pats in August 2015. After a brilliant debut season, the League One club rewarded him with a new contract and he was made captain.

The club’s Irish owner Darragh MacAnthony is a big fan of Forrester.
