Floyd Mayweather denies popular prediction immediately after contradiction confession

And he's telling us not to listen to Conor McGregor?

There has been a variety of predictions for Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor, but one keeps cropping up more than most.

Arguably the greatest defensive boxer ever Floyd Mayweather should beat a newcomer to the professional game in Conor McGregor. Everything we think we know about combat sports makes this the most likely outcome.

What makes McGregor dangerous in any fight, including one with heavier gloves, is that death-touch he has in his left hand. That patented Celtic cross is his most dangerous weapon and Mayweather knows that.

That’s why so many people are predicting that Mayweather will do his best to avoid to stay out of harm’s way and out-point his way to a comprehensive decision victory.

That’s pretty much how he defeated Manny Pacquaio. He out-landed ‘Pac-Man’ over the course of the fight, but it was the Filipino who was throwing with more venom.

Mayweather absolved himself of any blame for ‘the Fight of the Century’ turning out so boring in Tuesday’s scrum in Los Angeles, before declaring that he won’t be dancing around too much against McGregor. (quotes via MMA Fighting)

“Everyone was saying the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight… that wasn’t my fault. He threw less punches than I threw. Everybody knew I was a defensive fighter, but I don’t have the same movement that I had when I was 21, so this fight is not going to be too much movement.”

That would have been all well and good had it not been for the fact that he stared straight into the reporters’ faces and admitted that he contradicts himself just seconds before making the vow.

“I’ll be the first to say I can contradict myself. I may say something on Monday, I may say something different on Tuesday, but I will come on record saying I can contradict myself. I can say that.”

“It is what it is. We’re fighting in a boxing match, he’s a stand up warrior, I’m a stand up warrior. August 26, we must get the fans excited.”

That confession has us even doubting whether he was being truthful about ‘it is’ being ‘it is’.

What if it isn’t?
