Floyd Mayweather all but admits he’ll use boring style of boxing against Conor McGregor

He's not scared of the critics

The main criticism of Floyd Mayweather is that he is incredibly boring to watch.

Without a doubt Mayweather is the best defensive boxer of all time, he’s never been knocked to the canvas. Not even once.

In what sport does defensive play make for great viewing though? In boxing, most of the crowd just want to see blood and knockouts.

To Mayweather’s credit, he has marketed himself brilliantly and could be on course to break box office records (again) despite not being particular exhilarating to watch.

However, the 40-year-old has no qualms about being honest as to what style of fighting he will bring to the T-Mobile Arena when he goes toe to toe with Conor McGregor .

The undefeated fighter was speaking at a media scrum after his press conference with Conor McGregor on Wednesday night and responded to a claim that he was the best power puncher of all time.

“The body breaks down, I was a heavy hitter for many years,” he told reporters.

“My body broke down probably around the Arturo Gatti fight, that was my last hurrah but I still found a way to win.

“They say I’m running, they say I don’t hit hard but I continue to win and I continue to beat the best boxers all day.”

Mayweather fought Canadian boxer Gatti back in 2005 and fought 15 times after the bout.

Of the 15 fights, there were only three stoppages with one of those coming from a controversial knockout of Victor Ortiz.

Come 26 August fans can expect that not much will change from Mayweather and that he’ll be branding his defensive style of boxing once more.
