Mo Farah says he’s not leaving his coach despite doping allegations

The double Olympic champion says he wants answers though

Mo Farah is staying with Alberto Salazar.

The British double Olympic Champion said at a press conference today that he has “not seen any clear evidence” his coach is involved in doping. BBC documentary show Panorama conducted an investigation into the American coach, and alleged he has violated anti-doping rules.

It was also alleged that Salazar has been doping Galen Rupp, Farah’s training partner, who claimed silver in the 10,000 metres at 2012 Olympics, since the American was 16 years old.

Speaking ahead of a grand prix event in Birmingham tomorrow, Farah said: “I’m not leaving Alberto, for the reason I’ve not seen any clear evidence. I spoke to Alberto (On Friday night), I got on the phone and said to him, ‘Alberto, what’s going on?’ and he said, ‘Mo, I can prove this to you it’s just allegations, I’ll show you some evidence’, and I said, ‘OK'”

“I’m really angry at this situation. It’s not fair, it’s not right. I haven’t done anything but my name’s getting dragged through the mud. It’s something not in my control but I want to know answers. I need to know what’s going on – if these things are true, if they’re not true. If they turn out to be true, and Alberto has crossed the line, I’m the first person to leave him.”

Farah is the current Olympic, World and European champion over 5,000 and 10,000 metres and stressed throughout today’s press conference that he’s a “clean athlete”.
